-Laboratory diagnosis of parasitic infections affecting the eye.
-Microscopic and molecular identification of parasites.
-Facilities and techniques in the unit that serves patients in :

1. Diagnosis of different parasitic infections using various stool
examination techniques or
antigen detection (eg. H pylori antigen in stool)2. ELISA detection of Toxoplasma

3. Diagnosis of Acanthamoeba by culture
-Consultation and support for clinicians in managing parasitic eye
diseases.

-Participation in epidemiological studies and public health initiatives.

-Training programs for students, interns, and laboratory personnel.

The department is actively involved in research focusing on:
Ocular parasitic infections and their impact on vision.
Development of improved diagnostic techniques.
Epidemiology and prevention of parasitic diseases.
Drug efficacy and resistance patterns in parasitic infections.
