- 09/12/2021, President of the Glasgow University and the accompanying official delegation visited the Research Institute of Ophthalmology to check the Institute’s readiness for the FRCS Glasgow Fellowship Examinations.
- A headquarter has been equipped for this purpose and was set up at the most up-to-date level, which impressed the English side. They praised the quality of the equipment and the organization accuracy.
- 10/12/2022, a cooperation protocol was signed between the Institute and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow, includes the establishment of fellowship examinations – part III clinical and oral at the Research Ophthalmology Institute, Egypt.
- The examinations will be held three times a year starting from 2023 in March-June-December.
- 22-23/06/2023, the Institute successfully hosted the first “Final Part” Level III examinations to complete the Fellowship Certificate. Exams were held for 40 students, including two institute members, and six of the institute’s doctors who obtained this international certificate, which is considered the most difficult in all medical fields, also participated.
- 07 December 2023, the protocol was renewed between research institute of ophthalmology, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons – (Glasgow).

THE MINISTER OF HIGHER EDUCATION SIGNS A PROTOCOL OF COOPERATION WITH THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS OF ENGLAND
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stated that the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons is one of the most prestigious international bodies in granting fellowship certificates in the medical fields, and that this protocol allows the establishment of a headquarters for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Cairo, and allows training and qualification of doctors in the field of medicine and surgery, and that the field of ophthalmology has been started, and that Research Institute of Ophthalmology in Cairo will host this specialty, and then we will start in the field of dentistry, and then other specialties in the medical sector.
