- The institute trains Egyptian university graduates with master's or doctorate degree for a period of six months, renewable for another similar period, in the field of ophthalmology and surgery, during the past five years 84 Egyptian doctors have been trained plus 20 foreigners.
- The institute also trains doctors specializing in ophthalmology and surgery according to the Egyptian Fellowship Program.

Dr. Mustafa Salah Eldin, Head of the Research Institute of Ophthalmology welcomed Dr. Maggie Nassif, Fulbright Commission Executive Director accompanied by Ms. Noha Salah Program Officer, to discuss Fulbright Program opportunities for Egyptian graduate students and scholars in addition to the Fulbright U.S. Specialist Program for U.S. experts to support projects and help develop human capital in Egypt.


A training program was arranged for (19) African ophthalmology colleagues from 17 African countries
under the auspices of Arab Republic of Egypt, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to activate the role of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) which was announced the launch by President “Abdel Fattah AI-SISI” in his speech at the twenty-third Summit of the African Union in Malabo (June 2014).
- Several lectures that focused on various aspects of treating cataracts and glaucoma were given, as they are among the most important causes of low or lost vision in Africa and the methods of early diagnosis and treatment.
- The doctors were also trained in cataract operations using Phaco Surgery Simulator and they follow-up of various surgeries directly through the television circles.
- Medical convoys can be activated regularly for various countries in Africa that need help, where an abundant number of surgeries can be performed, as well as training ophthalmologists and giving them the opportunity to raise their surgical level.
- The training course certificates were delivered to the African doctors in the presence of His Excellency Professor Dr. / Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research
- On the other hand, it is possible to host a number of doctors periodically for periods ranging from 3 to 6 months at the Institute to sharpen their diagnostic and surgical skills.
